**Instructions:**

Learn how to score the standardized medical-fitness tests and complete the quiz below.

Participants in medical-fitness testing are given a Medical-Fitness Score Card. Their medical-fitness scores are valid for 3 months, because if the participant is not exercising regularly, their fitness level decreases. If the participant is exercising regularly, they are able to improve, or at least maintain, their medical-fitness score from test to test. The participant's scores indicate the extent to which they are exercising and the level of their fitness. Physicians can use this reliable information to better treat the sedentary-related health risks and medical conditions of their patients.

Medical-Fitness Testing generates up to four specific fitness scores: the CPV Fitness Test (either the track or treadmill version) and each of the three Muscular Fitness Tests (legs, abs, and arms). These four fitness test scores are then added together to generate a general total fitness score. Each of the four specific scores are valued at 0-5, which makes the general total score valued at 0-20. The total fitness score can be converted to a percentage for quick and clear interpretation. Of course, the higher the scores, the higher the fitness level.

**Conversion of the Raw Total Test Score into a Percent Score:**

Example A: 15/20. Divide 15 by 20 and then multiply by 100 = 75%

Example B: 15/20. Multiply 15/20 x 5/5 = 75/100 = 75%

**1b. CPV Fitness Test - Treadmill**

For participants who need their speed adjusted downward to complete the 5-minute time requirement, the test result is interpreted using the participant's speed at the end of the test.

For participants who do not complete the 5-minute time requirement, the test result is interpreted as 1 value less if the duration was greater than or equal to 2:30, and 2 values less if the duration was less than 2:30.

For participants who do not complete the 5-minute time requirement, the test result is interpreted as 1 value less if the duration was greater than or equal to 2:30, and 2 values less if the duration was less than 2:30.
